History
Charlene introduced me to the Pacific Friend magazine back in May, 2002. I had searched all the local bookstores and libraries (I am living in a small city in Canada) and they did not carry the magazine. At the meantime, I was on my way to visit Hong Kong and Japan. I promised her to find the magazine. Fortunately, I was able to acquire the magazine at Kebkuro shopping district, Tokyo, Japan on June 21, 2002. Since the return to Canada, I started to subscribe the Pacific Friend in October 2002, and share it with Charlene.
I remember an email conversation with Charlene back in June 14, 2002, she says: "...Maybe start a fan site for the magazine (Pacific Friend), for pacific countries...". That conversation inspires me to create this fan site.
I have been thinking of starting a fan site for Pacific Friend for a while until one lonely summer day on July 11, 2003. I was thinking, "hmm… maybe I can create a Pacific Friend fan site to fulfill her dreams…".
It took me a day or so to decide the development tools that I am going to use for this site. I chose NetObjects Fusion over Microsoft FrontPage for a specific reason. If I use Microsoft FrontPage with my service provider, I need to install the FrontPage extensions and I will lose lots of server side functionalities. Also, NetObjects Fusion is much more affordable than Microsoft FrontPage. I am quite impressed by the output of the NetObjects Fusion and it took a day to put starting pages up and running. I remember back in 1995, I need to type all the html tags by hands. Now, it is way simpler to create a web page.
I decided to launch this site on July 13, 2003 for a special reason; it is also one of my anniversary day. I am hoping my friends will help me and there are lots of works need to be done.
